The Winged Mercedes-Benz

This 1986 Mercedes-Benz 500 SEC is 1of 57 C126 -chassis cars converted to have Gullwing doors by Styling Garage. Finished in white exterior over a custom white interior with red accents, this example was first imported to the United States in 1986 by the infamous Autosalon 2000, Miami, FL. The “Gullwing” is powered by a 5-liter 32-valve AMG modified Mercedes-Benz M117 V8 -engine, while the exterior and interior modifications were completed by Styling Garage in Germany. This exclusive conversion stands out as one of the best examples of SGS built Mercedes-Benz SEC Gullwings in original condition with one owner since new. The vehicle has covered only 12,000 km since new, maintained and stored in an airconditioned collection for the past 37 years. The custom interior and original paint show very little wear and the vehicle presents as a highly original un-restored vehicle in near pristine condition. The SGS built Gullwing features hydro-electric operated doors, with built in roof-door-chassis framing for safety and strength. The door design features a button located on the exterior for accessing the vehicle and buttons on the dash for exiting the vehicle. A safety inspection, dyno performance test, and road test of the vehicle was completed at RENNtech in 2023. The hydraulic door mechanism was serviced and works as intended. New front rotors and calipers and Bridgestone Potenza tires were installed by RENNtech in preparation for sale. The Gullwing SGS is exceptionally rare, as the majority of the 57 cars remain in private and public collections (Europe, United States, Saudi Arabia) while others have fallen to neglect over the past 4 decades. Finding an original, low-mile example in excellent condition is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for collectors looking to own one of the most provocative Mercedes-Benz of all time.
