1961 190SL "Mercedes-Bent""
Mercedes-Bent" is the brainchild of owner Richard Mott. What began as two distinct vehicles and a vision has become a on-of-a-kind masterpiece.
Hot Rods & Custom Stuff has bridged the gap between old and new German engineering by wrapping the body of a 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190SL around the chassis of a 2004 Mercedes-Benz SL600. Just for a little added fun, this mega-machine has a full RENNtech performance package. The result is nothing short of amazing.
The ECU and TCU (transmission control unit) were both reflashed with software developed in-house, and the turbo system was upgraded with RENNtech’s intercooler upgrade, which includes a new pump for greater flow of coolant, plus all the attendant plumbing and electrical connections, while the stock turbochargers were increased to 21 psi from the stock 14.5 psi, resulting in a power output of 650 hp at 5500 rpm and 785 lb-ft at 2000 rpm form the M.B. M257 V12 -engine.
