This 1982 500 SL AMG 5.0 is one of a limited number of ordered by Richard Buxbaum’s for Classic Motors, in Westmont, Ill. and is powered by an AMG tuned 5.0 liter (M117) -engine paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. Specified with Mercedes-Benz factory "performance first" options, namely the 5-speed Getrag manual transmission, a limited slip differential (258) and ABS braking system (470). From the M.B. factory the black 500SL was sent to AMG in Affalterbach for additional performance and styling upgrades. The AMG installed upgrades include Power Increase (CM12) which includes ported and polished cylinder heads, AMG performance camshafts and exhaust system. AMG styling upgrades include Front Spoiler, Lower Body, Blacked-out Chrome and black BBS aluminum wheels. First sold by Classic Motors in1982 this 500SL AMG 5.0 remained with the first owner until 2007 when it was acquired by current owner. During ownership, the original Orthopedic front seats were replaced by Recaro seats along with new sun visors (see receipt). The exhaust has been replaced to a single pipe from mid car to back, and the original steering wheel has been changed to a smaller AMG unit. Wheels are AMG Penta models (16 x 8) with Toyo Proxes. The hard top and the original black BBS basketweave wheels are included with the car.
